The Vidakuzha Sreekrishnaswami Temple is an ancient and powerful shrine in central Kerala. It is situated at Kalamassery in Ernakulam District, which is  3 kilometers away from the beautiful and serene River Periyaar, sanctified by the presence of Sri Ganesh. This temple is dedicated to Lord Sreekrishna, the incarnation of Lord Mahavishnu. The posture of the idol is in the form of Santhana Gopala. ”Santhana Gopala is an infant form of Lord Krishna, he blesses childless couples with progeny and also enhances the knowledge of children”. The believers from all over India used to visit the temple for their fulfillment of the progeny.According to ancient scripts, the temple is over 1500 years of age and was in a dilapidated condition due to external invasions. But due to the keen interest of Vidakkuzha Sreekrishna Swami Kshetra Bharan Seva Samithi  and Devotees the temple was partly renovated during the year  2011-2012.

KALASAM is aThaanthrik ritual("Thaanthrika Kriya") aiming at increasing the glory and power of the dieties and sometimes for  atonement for any fading of such power. As per Thaanthrik rules "Naveekarana Kalasam"has to be done in every temple once in 12 years.Due to ignorance or unknowing practices of humans the dietie's power may fade. With the passage of time and due to normal wear and tear and impurities that might have adept in ,the temple may have lost its original holiness and the idol its original sanctity. It is believed that this can be not only regained but increased by the performance of periodic Naveekarana Kalasam.

For the past 45 years Naveekarana Kalasam was not done in  Vidakkuzha Sreekrishna Swami Temple due to so many reasons.Due to this the Temple and People around it is experiencing lack of glory. As per the recommendations of the astrologers and Thanthri, the Vidakkuzha Sreekrishna Swami Devaswom Board has decided to perform the auspicious NAVEEKARANA KALASAM from 2014 April 25 to 2014 May 12.With the performance of this ritual, the temple and its premises and the whole location is enriched with divine spirit(Chaithanyam) which enhances the people of the location in every aspects of life in a positive way.

As per Thaanthrik rituals there must be a festival (THIRU ULSAVAM) before and after Naveekarana Kalasham. Accordingly with the permission of the deity it is decided to celebrate the Thiru Ulsavam of this year from March 20 to 27, 2014. Followed by the Naveekarana Kalasham from April 25 to May 5, 2014. And the next Thiru Ulsavam from May 5 to 12, 2014. The aforesaid events are inevitable for the performance of the holy Naveekarana Kalasham. For the proper performance of Naveekarana Kalasham and Thiru Ulsavam huge expenditure is necessary. It is needless to say without the support from   the devotees and public, the performance of the rituals is not possible.

The fund raising campaign was inaugurated by Sri A.N. Radhakrishnan (General Secretary, B J P, Kerala) in the presence of Sri. Jamal Manakkadan(Municipal Chairman, Kalamassery). The committee humbly requests you to grace the occasion with  your esteemed presence during these events  and also request financial as well as moral support from your side.
